MUSEUM OF AQUINCUM
The first town in this area was built by the Romans. In addition to the habitation, the army camp of the legions, an amphitheatre, industrial plants, sacred places and large cemeteries belonged to the town. Aquincum was one of the most important settlements of the province; it was one of the most important links in a chain of settlements along the Danube. It also served as a centre for a road system leading into the middle of the provinces.

From the battle against the two cruellest systems of the 20th century originated eventually the strength for freedom and independence victoriously.

The kind atmosphere and the great variety of the exhibited materials offer a whole day programme for the entire family. Visitors can travel from the Nyugati railway station to the park free of charge. The park can also be reached by bus number 30 (get off the bus at the Rokolya Utca bus station). STATUE PARK
After the change in the political system the statues were moved from the streets of Budapest to the museum. This is the only collection of its kind from the period of communism in the whole world. It is the most interesting outdoor museum in Eastern Europe. The museum that opened in the autumn of 1993 still is not completely finished. For example it still lacks a coherent brick wall to create a united frame for the statues. Also, some facilities planned for the service of the visitors have not been put into system yet. Regardless of these deficiencies the park has continuously received visitors ever since its opening. After the progressive interest that characterized the first few weeks, by today the number of visitors coming to the scene has become well balanced. In average 25-30.000 people (both Hungarian and foreign) visit the place every year.
